weekend in THE city

Spent the weekend driving in circles around and through NYC. Spent Shabbos in Ct. with "Saba Avi and Savta Peggy (and Aunt Reni and Aunt Tali)" and "Savta Molly and Saba Stu". Saw Grnadma Fran. Went into NJ to see Aunt Judy and Uncle Gary and "Saba Joel" who came all the way in from Yerushalayim for a conference. Was a busy, exhausting weekend, and I look forward to sleeping for a week straight, which should happen in about 18 years.
A note to other parents with crawlers: call ahead to make sure the In-Law Motel is babyproofed.

I guessed we'd have guests!

So Shabbos was fun! We had Andrew and Chana (and baby Chava) Sidi stay with us over Shabbos. They live too far from shul to walk, so we decided to invite them to join us in the 'civilized world'. We also had the Eisenstadts come over for lunch (Lowell, Susan and Ryan). It was wonderful. We had 3 babies within 9 weeks of eachother trying to figure out exactly what in the world the other babies were. Nate decided the other babies needed to share so he kept playing with (ie stealing) the other babies toys. What will I do with this angel of mine?
Somebody wants to practice his 'standings' so I guess my description of the weekend will end here. Exept to say, Ra'anan, you were right. We had way too much food.

aron kodesh

Back in October, sometime around Simchas Torah, my father gave Nate a stuffed torah all the way from Israel. Two days later, Laurie, my sister, gave him another torah. Jokingly, I said "if Nate gets another Torah, we will have to build him an aron kodesh". Everyone laughed politely, and that was the end of it.
When we moved into our new house, around Chanukah time, my Aunt Debbie sent us a nice house warming/chag package. There were, among other things, a mezuzah, a challah cover, some stuffed dreidels for Nate and, of course, a torah.
Now I had a mission. I needed to find the perfect box to make my perfect son a perfect aron kodesh. Recently I found one and, I am pleased to say, Nate now has an aron kodesh.

massage message

I went for my bi-weekly massage today (from the accident from last month when my jerk-of-a-co-worker slammed right into our car). I was exhausted before I went, and was looking forward to falling asleep on the table. So of course I did the most logical thing in the world, and spent the whole time talking. Why can't I ever let myself relax?
We are up to 9 inches of snow, and it is still falling. Well they do say "in like a lion".

let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

So, the weatherman got it right this time. We've got a heck of a lot of snow. I don't think I'll be going to work today.
As a very wise woman once said (ok, a co-worker typed in an IM this AM) "The white stuff stopped being pretty when it stopped getting me out of school". Very wise indeed.
Well my little cutie pie has been making such wonderful progress lately. In the past month he has really started crawling. He is beginning to show hints of the inner speed demon. He has also learned to pull himself from a sitting to a standing position, which means we now have a new bedtime routine. It goes: Change baby, give tzedakah, read book, say shema, put in bed, say bedtime prayer, give kiss, leave room, come back 3 minutes later when he is screaming because he used the sides of the crib to stand up and can't get back into a sitting position. HELP! I'VE GOTTEN UP, AND I CAN'T FALL DOWN! Maybe we should get him life alert.
Right now, Nate is showing that he is very much is father's son. He decided the baby learning center was too boring, so crawled over to the spare computer and pulled the keyboard to the floor. If anyone gets a weird IM, don't worry. It's just Nate's early attempts to communicate.
I got such wonderful news at work yesterday. I found out that I'm not selling enough ads (really!) and I'm not a salesperson (well duh!). So they will try to find me another job around the office, but if they can't then I'm gone in 3 weeks. They will give me a letter of reccomendation, for being a hard worker, and try to help me find another job. They won't even tell the others why I'm leaving. They will say it's becuase I want to spend more time with Nate (which is true). Thats ok, I already found a potential other job. A friend will be returning to work soon after an extended maternity leave, and I may watch her son 2x week. Or maybe I'll find another job somewhere else.
